SUNY’s 2009-10 Budget Request for Community Colleges

Community colleges are the gateway for many New Yorkers in this weakened economy as they enhance their skills and retrain themselves for new jobs.

Restore the reduction in base-aid of $270 per FTE beginning with FY08-09 fiscal year ($11 million) and then to FY09-10 ($14.1 million). Reject the “sliding scale” that apportions this decrease.

A strong investment in SUNY’s community colleges will benefit all New Yorkers and secure a better future for the Empire State.
